Affiliate commissions

Some of our links to the tools we cover are affiliate links. If you click one and sign up, we may earn a commission. It costs you nothing extra, and the price you pay is the same as if you had gone to the vendor directly. That commission is what funds the research.

What it does not buy

A commission does not move a tool up the ranking, add it to a list, soften a verdict or remove a drawback. We rank the same way whether a tool has an affiliate program or not, and some tools we cover pay us nothing. When a tool has no affiliate link, we simply do not link out to it, and the page still has to read correctly.

How it is marked

Affiliate links carry a sponsored tag, and every page that has one shows a disclosure line above the first link. You never have to guess which link earns us a commission.
